Eastern Angels Privacy Policy

Anglia Angels Limited, trading as Eastern Angels (formerly Anglia Capital Group), and any subsidiary or linked companies, is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we gather, how we use it, and who we share it with.

If you have questions or concerns about this policy, please contact us at hello@easternangels.co.uk.

Data collection

When you contact Eastern Angels as an existing or potential client, we may ask you for personal and company information. You may give us this information by:

  • Filling in forms offline or on our website.

  • Communicating with us, including by email, letter, face-to-face meetings and any other interaction.

  • Speaking with us or our representatives by phone, where we may make and keep a record of what you share.

The information we collect sometimes includes:

  • Personal contact details such as your name, email address, mailing address and phone number, and your social media profile if you choose to share it.

  • Company information, where you wish to raise capital through our services. This covers the company name, registered and operating addresses, company number, directors, significant shareholders, company size, business type, and a professional or business profile.

  • Details of any transactions carried out through introductions made as part of our service.

  • Information provided to us by third parties so that we can meet our anti-money laundering obligations, or check the accuracy of company information you have given us.

We may also receive information about you from third parties, for example from companies and members who introduce you to us, from the platforms we use to run our network, and from checks we carry out for anti-money laundering purposes.

Use of data

We use the personal data we hold about you to:

  • Complete and support the activity needed to give you the information, products and services you request, and to deliver any contract we have with you.

  • Make introductions to representatives of companies seeking investment, where you have consented to be contacted for that purpose.

We cannot be responsible for how others use data you choose to share with them, whether through our website, our third-party contractors or our members.

Where we need personal data to provide a service or meet a legal obligation and you choose not to give it to us, we may not be able to provide that service, and we will tell you if this is the case.

We use your personal data only for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another compatible reason. If we need to use it for an unrelated purpose, we will tell you and explain the legal basis that allows us to do so.

Data storage and security

The data Eastern Angels holds is stored on a host server located in England, United Kingdom. We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your personal data. No method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. We cannot ensure the security of information you send to us, and you send it at your own risk.

All personal data we store will be:

  • Fairly and lawfully processed.

  • Processed for limited purposes.

  • Adequate, relevant and not excessive.

  • Accurate.

  • Not kept longer than necessary.

  • Processed in accordance with the data subject's rights.

  • Secure.

  • Not transferred to third-party organisations without consent, or other than as part of the contract you have with us.

We limit access to your personal data to those employees, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know it. They process it only on our instructions and are subject to a duty of confidentiality. We have procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach, and we will notify you and the regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

Information disclosure

Information about you is disclosed only to Eastern Angels staff and representatives, whether employees or contractors, so that they can carry out the activities needed to deliver information, goods and services and to meet any contractual obligations between you and us.

We do not spam, rent or sell your information, anywhere, at any time.

We may share your data with third parties only in the following ways:

  • To deliver our services and meet our contractual obligations to you, in line with the permissions you give when the contract is entered into. For example, we may pass your contact details to a potential investor in your business, or to a company you are interested in investing in. This includes third parties contracted to provide a service to us, who are authorised to process your personal data only for delivering those services.

  • If you have authorised us to pitch your company to investors, we will circulate details only to our member investors.

  • We will not disclose your identifiable personal information to any third party for advertising purposes without your permission.

  • If Anglia Angels Limited, or its assets, are acquired by a third party, the personal data we hold will be transferred as an asset of the business.

  • Where needed to meet our legal and regulatory requirements, to enforce any agreement with us, or to protect the rights, property or safety of us, our employees and representatives, our customers or others. This includes, but is not limited to, data transfers required for fraud prevention or credit risk assessment.

Our service providers

We use a small number of trusted providers to run our network and process data on our behalf:

  • Pipedrive, our customer relationship management (CRM) system, where we keep contact details and records of our dealings with members, founders and other contacts.

  • Inclusiv, our deal platform, which we use to manage deals and share investment opportunities with our members.

  • Wix, which provides our website and hosts the information submitted through our website forms.

We allow these providers to process your personal data only for the services they provide to us, and only in line with our instructions. We do not allow them to use it for their own purposes.

Marketing and opting out

If you have asked us for information, are a member, or have attended or booked one of our events, we may send you news and invitations from Eastern Angels about our network, events and opportunities. You can ask us to stop at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any message or by emailing hello@easternangels.co.uk. If you opt out of marketing, we will still contact you about matters we need to tell you about to run your membership or deal with your application.

We will get your express consent before we share your personal data with any other company for its own marketing.

Our website

When you visit our website (www.easternangels.co.uk), Eastern Angels does not collect any personally identifying information about you. We do not use individual information for commercial purposes, and we do not share it with any other organisation. You will not receive any email from us simply because you visited our site.

Cookies are small text files that a website sends to your computer, where they are stored on your hard drive. Most websites use them to make the site work, to improve your browsing experience, to provide statistical information, and to recognise you if you return. Cookies from our website do not contain any personally identifying information and are used only to personalise your visits. This can save you time on future visits by storing information you have previously entered on our site. Our cookies cannot run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. You can choose not to accept cookies, or delete existing ones, by adjusting your internet security preferences. If you do, some parts of the website may not work properly.

This website uses certain cookies that are needed for essential functionality. We also use other cookies that help us improve your experience and provide statistical information. By using our website, you consent to these cookies being placed on your browser.

We may gather information about how the site is used. We collect aggregate information about visits, such as when the site is visited most often and which areas are accessed most often, and we use it to analyse how to improve the site.

We store personal information from people who use the contact form on this website so that we can respond to their query or application. We do not use this information for commercial purposes or share it with any other organisation. It is stored securely and deleted when no longer relevant.

Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We do not control these sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices, so we encourage you to read the privacy notice of any site you visit. Our website is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.

Legal basis and retention

We process your personal data only where we have a lawful basis under UK data protection law. Depending on the circumstances, this is:

  • Your consent, for example where you ask us to make introductions or agree to be contacted about investment opportunities.

  • The performance of a contract with you, or steps you ask us to take before entering one.

  • Compliance with a legal or regulatory obligation, such as anti-money laundering checks and our obligations as an FCA-regulated business.

  • Our legitimate interests in running and promoting our investor network, where these are not outweighed by your rights and interests.

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, including any period we are required to keep records for legal or regulatory reasons. When we no longer need it, we delete it or anonymise it.

When deciding how long to keep data, we consider its nature and sensitivity, the risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure, the purposes we use it for, and the legal requirements that apply. In some cases we may anonymise data so that it can no longer be linked to you, and we may then use it for research or statistics.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

  • Ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.

  • Ask us to delete your data, in certain circumstances.

  • Ask us to restrict how we use your data, or object to our using it.

  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

  • Ask for your data in a portable format, in certain circumstances.

You do not have to pay a fee to use these rights, although we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse a request that is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. We may ask you for information to confirm who you are, so that we do not disclose data to someone who has no right to it. We aim to respond within one month. If your request is complex, or you have made several, it may take longer, and we will tell you.

To use any of these rights, email hello@easternangels.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

How we use AI

Eastern Angels uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support our work, for example to help summarise and analyse information, including pitch decks and applications, and to help draft documents and communications. This may involve the personal and company information described in this policy.

We use AI as an aid, not as a decision-maker. A person at Eastern Angels reviews the output and makes every decision about whether to progress an application, make an introduction or share information with our members. We do not make decisions about you using solely automated processing.

We do not allow our personal data, or the information you share with us, to be used to train AI models. We choose tools and settings that reflect this, and we share only the information we need for the task in hand.

Any use of AI is subject to the rest of this policy, including the limits on who we share your data with and how long we keep it. If you have questions about how we use AI, or would prefer that we do not use AI on information you have given us, email hello@easternangels.co.uk.
